This pipe regulates the maximum water level in the grow bed. THe vertical standpipe is supplied with a uniseal to seal around the pipe as it penetrates through the hole at the bottom of the grow bed.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe \"bell\" pipe that fits over the vertical standpipe and that has a diameter double that of the vertical standpipe. It is also slightly longer. This pipe has a sealed cap on top, and opening at the bottom to let the water in to the chamber\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eA Service Pipe (gravel guard) that fits over the bell pipe and is there to stop gravel or other grow nedia from blocking up the bell inlet holes. This can also happen in an aquarium where the biological loading on the system is causing an imbalance e.g. if there is excessive livestock for the aquarium volume or over feeding is occurring. The nitrate concentration in a reef aquarium should be lower than 1 mg\/L, although fish only aquariums would usually have a higher concentration. Just as with nitrite, many nitrate test kits are prone to amine interference which can make the levels of nitrate appear much lower than they actually are. The build up of nitrate can result in unwanted algae growth and the slowing down of coral growth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Salifert test kit does not suffer from such interference and gives accurate and quick results with a total testing time of less than 3 minutes.
