Correct water parameters are dependent on fish stocking densities and plants biomass inside the fish tank or pond. Clear water does not mean its not contaminated.
Bad water parameters can result in disease or algae growth. You thus need to check water parameter values in your fish tank or pond on a regular basis.
JBL has a range of water parameter test kits. Other than an adequate CO2 supply, iron and trace elements are essential for the good health of water plants. Aquatic plants constantly require iron and other trace elements, and these are only available for a limited period during the coupling to so-called chelates, a common feature in modern fertiliser preparations. Regular monitoring with the JBL Iron Test Fe kit is thuse required, along with repeated fertilisation if necessary.

Recommended iron contents:
Freshwater aquarium (community aquarium): 0.05-0.2 mg/l
Lake Malawi/Lake Tanganyika aquarium: 0.05-0.2 mg/l
Plant aquarium with few fish (aquascaping): 0.1-0.5 mg/l
Marine aquarium: 0.002-0.05 mg/l
Pond: 0.05-0.1 mg/l.
